Instructor Spotlight: Kelly

Get to know one of our awesome Team Members, Kelly Rojahn!

We have an amazing, dedicated and talented team of moms here at FIT4MOM Madison, and we want you to get to know a little more about each one of them. So we put the spotlight on Kelly - Body Boost, Body Ignite, Strides 360, and Stroller Barre Instructor. We asked Kelly a series of questions related to her motherhood & FIT4MOM journey. Read on for her response:

Who are the members of your family and where are you originally from?

I'm originally from St. Louis MO but moved to Madison 10 years ago after marrying my husband. We have one son.

What are 3 of your favorite things?

Reading, vacationing, and my family!

You are given 4 hours of FREE babysitting. What would you do?

To be completely honest, I would clean my house. It relaxes me and makes me happy to have everything organized. But...I totally wish that I would say, go for a run, read a book, craft, and go to dinner with my husband (because all of those things would fit into 4 hours!).

What has being a mom taught you?

I don't think I could eloquently put this into words. Being a mom has taught me about patience, faith, to trust your gut, and sooo much about love!

What is your funniest or most embarrassing mommy moment so far?

Before becoming an instructor, I was attending a Stroller Strides class. I was running with the stroller to the next station and chatting with some other moms while we ran. We were headed down one of the two hills at Dublin park. I somehow landed on a pine cone and fell down (saving the stroller from the impact!!!). The entire class was behind me and had full view of the less-than-graceful maneuver. It was very embarassing.

When was your first FIT4MOM class and what do you remember about it?

My first class was the Grand opening in Madison. I remember being excited about the idea of the classes and sad that my son was already two years old. I thought he was done with the stroller (but was very happy to find that he loved the classes just as much as I did). I also remember the class being outside of my comfort zone. I was completely out of breath traveling the hills of Dublin, last to arrive at the stations. Yet, I was welcomed with open arms, encouraged, and surrounded by Moms of all abilities there for a common purpose.

Tell us your story about how/why you became an instructor?

Becoming an instructor was something I had toyed with for nearly a year before finally becoming one. I felt like it was important for moms to see that anyone can exercise and work on their health, no matter the circumstances. I happened to be training for the half marathon with Rebecca, the FIT4MOM Madison owner. Training together, we had hours upon hours to talk. Body Well was in the works for the first time and we discussed it on those runs. I knew THIS was the time to take the leap-Body Well was right up my alley. And I was welcomed to the team with overwhelming support!

What is the BEST thing about being an instructor?

It absolutely has to be watching Mamas find their own strength, build their own confidence, and see their own capabilities. The moment it clicks--the moment they can see what I see--that's the BEST part of being an instructor!

What is your WHY? Why do you keep doing what you do?

I was an entirely different person before finding FIT4MOM--inside and out. I am beyond thankful for the physical changes, health changes, and friendships I have made through Fit4Mom. I want to help create an environment for other moms to have those same opportunities. I’m an early childhood teacher and planning playgroups and fun4baby during Stroller classes is also something I love!

What is your favorite class exercise?

My favorite class exercise is running hill sprints with a fellow instructor, Emily Woolley. I don't love hill sprints (who does?), but I love finding Emily at class, pumping each other up, and using each other to push through. She also happens to be a foot taller than me and kicks my booty when I try and keep up!

What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?

I love to paint! And make jewelry (I worked at a bead store in high school). And sew. And bake. And be crafty. There aren't enough hours in the day but if I could unplug for a week, I'd spend all week crafting (after organizing my craft supplies of course).

Anything else you'd like Our Village to know?

Step out of your comfort zone and give F4M a try! You won't regret it.

Read below to hear what her fellow team members and clients have to say about Kelly. It's obvious that she is LOVED!

“I cannot sing enough praises for Kelly, as an instructor, fellow mama, and friend. Her approach to the Body Well program and how she challenges us not only in workouts, but with our self-care, meal planning, and more are just some of the reasons why I keep signing up for Body Well sessions. Her organization and planning skills are stellar! (Hello, former teacher. This school SLP loves every bit of this gift of hers.) She comes to each Body Well class with a high expectation for each of us, but also knows we are all mamas who need grace. Kelly is encouraging and real in her feedback. Her love of F4M and what F4M stands for, reaching all the moms, really shines in Kelly."

“What I love about Kelly is her real-ness. I think, knowing her story makes her so much more relatable. She's on her own fitness journey and so she completely understands the daily struggle to find time for all the things. She understands the daily struggle to stay on the wagon and holding on to not fall off or completely derail. Shes also your biggest support and celebrates even the smallest victories with you. I think it's her support and understanding that really make her a fantastic fitness instructor and great friend. (Also, she takes her role very seriously and clearly works very hard and puts alot of thought and effort into each workout to make sure we have a rounded workout session!)”

~ Stephanie

“Kelly is one of the sweetest ladies you’ll ever meet, but she’ll make ya booty buuurn if you take her Stroller Barre class! She’s a killer instructor and an awesome team leader. I’ve been able to really see Kelly shine with the new responsibilities she’s been given in FIT4MOM. She was born to help mommas be the best they can be in the classroom and in life!"

~ Allison

“Kelly is a GOOD friend...not just someone that's lukewarm about something or somebody...but a friend that will feed you wine and chocolate and let you cry on her shoulder. Summary: I want to grow to be a friend like she is to everyone! #friendgoals”

~ Blaire

"It is hard to even begin to explain just how wonderful it is to have Kelly as a friend and a co-worker! Kelly’s dedication to F4M is above and beyond what is required of her. When you hear her story, you will quickly recognize the trials that she faced and her perseverance will inspire you. When I am taking one of Kelly’s BB classes I know that it will always be a guaranteed tough, challenging, and rewarding workout! Her commitment to proper form, injury prevention, and the needs of every client is out of this world! Kelly always brings everything she’s got each and every day and I am fortunate to have her as a friend!"

~Emily

“Kelly personally invests in and connects with every mama in her classes and works so hard to help each one reach her goals. Her encouragement gets me through every workout! She shares her story with such passion and her positive attitude is contagious!!”
