Meet Klaire: ReKreate Physical Therapy

Tell us a little about yourself?

Hey! My name is Klaire. I was born and raised in Athens, AL and moved back here after I graduated from physical therapy school. I am a pelvic health physical therapist. I earned my Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Auburn University. I then received my Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Alabama State University. I am a certified Prenatal and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist (PCES). I started my journey as an orthopedic focused physical therapist and then transitioned to serve the prenatal and postpartum population to follow my passion. I have been passionate about physical therapy for as long as Ican remember, but helping moms feel capable and strong in their own bodies is truly the job of my dreams. I enjoy being with family, working out, being outdoors, and traveling. War Eagle!

Tell us a little about your practice / what it specializes in?

I founded ReKreate Physical Therapy in 2022. ReKreate specializes in pelvic floor, pregnancy, and postpartum. I have continued education through Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute and I am a Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist. I combined my two therapy passions- returning people to exercise and helping pregnant and postpartum patients feel like themselves again through a holistic approach. Postpartum individuals are nothing short of performance athletes and deserve to be treated as such. I work with patients in the North Alabama area as well as virtual patients from anywhere. I believe that through basic education and guidance aches and pains that arise during and following pregnancy can be eased. With the right care, you can regain the strength and confidence to return to activities you love (yes, even running and jumping)!

What is your WHY?

I currently have one child and expecting our second in April! When I found out I was pregnant, I began training for a very specific type of marathon. I knew labor and delivery was not going to be easy, but I was going to make sure I walked in confident and strong. I incorporated cardio and strength training throughout my whole pregnancy. As it turns out, training well during my pregnancy was a major key to a healthy postpartum journey. Once the pregnancy marathon was over, I entered motherhood that adds heavier weights to each passing week. Building strength and stamina took me from pregnant to postpartum without chronic pain or dysfunction and I want the same for you! Our healthcare system lacks the support and education that moms need and I wanted to be a missing piece of that puzzle.

You have 4 hours of babysitting what would you do with your time?

Oh the things I could get done in 4 hours!! I put a high focus on one hour a day to myself. So, I would head straight to the gym to get a little workout in! I would then go shopping for clothes and other things I didn’t need…but that’s okay every once in a while. I would either get a massage, facial, or a pedi and mani for a little self-care. After those 4 hours of peace and quiet time I would come home to my two babies and husband so refreshed and ready to spend some quality time together as a family!

Your fav spot to hangout in the Rocket City?

I enjoy Campus 805 because there is a lot of family friendly activities to do. Athens, AL however, has a cute downtown area that I love walking around and going in all the local shops.
